Coaches Report Southern Saints v Frankston

. Southern Saints 7.8 lost to Frankston 7.10

Match Report Round 3.

The Supers did everything but win against Frankston Districts in Sundays game, we had 4 or 5 opportunities to ice the game in the last quarter but unfortunately came up 2 points short.

It shows that to win week in week out we have to have our intensity levels up for 4 quarters and with our style of play we need to hit targets both coming out of defence and going into attack, turnovers hurt us badly.

We also need to work on clearances and make sure our tackle count is up where is should be.

Great to have Marcus Barber in for his first game of the year – outstanding performance for someone who had played on the Saturday – and a special thanks to Hughesy, Abe and Dave Enticott who sat on the bench all day after playing in the Masters.

Lets all get to training and prepare for our next challenge at Peninsula on the 30^th.

Frankston came to Peterson St Reserve with 18 players. Ron Frank and Pepe defected quicker than a soviet spy to assist the Sharks. Sitting on the bench I could see the standout was Joey and Frankston agreed they had no one quick enough to keep up with him. Then Billy Derham came to the attention of Frankston.

Frankston were down 9 goals to 1 at half time. Thanks to handballing gone right Ronnie Frank assisted in a goal to Potsy for Frankston. Not to be outdone Pepe snapped a goal for the Sharks as well.

Southern Saints were never really in danger with coach Mick calling the shots. First game back for Jarvo, who managed to kick goals and have the ball on a string. George and Wayne proved focal points when given space to run and jump. Rayo just smashed through the packs. Fitzy (with one glove) rucked tirelessly all day.
